222 Discipleship Training includes ideas I have absorbed through working with some of the fastest growing church planting movements in Asia and Africa. It is designed to train Christian believers to help facilitate discipleship multiplication movements (DMM’s). They are suitable for any group of believers or interested seekers wanting to live a vibrant Christian life following Biblical principles.

The purpose is to help you to be led by the Holy Spirit, to share your faith with others, and impact your community by helping people start “222” groups. The “222” comes from 2 Timothy 2:2, where Paul tells Timothy to teach faithful men the things which he himself has been taught. These faithful men will in turn teach others (who will themselves teach others, who will themselves teach others etc!). All really fast-growing movements use this principle.

Importantly, the perspective taken in this training is that the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit are absolutely central to the Gospel, and not an optional extra for “advanced” Christians (cf Rom 8:14; Luke 4:18; John 14:12-14). During the course, participants are assisted to actually experience the Holy Spirit, and through this grow in their relationship with Jesus and the Father. In keeping with the “222” principle, they are also equipped to introduce others to the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit.
