Jesus’ strategy for harvest: four fields of work
- Luk 19:10 the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost – Jesus entered a lost culture
- Mat 4:23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people. – He began to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom.
- Mat 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen – As people received the Gospel He made them disciples, living like Him.
- Mark 3:14-15 Then He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach, and to have power to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons – They gathered together as community or church and Jesus chose the ones to be with Him.
Result – Luke 10:2 Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. – He sends them out as labourers, to repeat the cycle He has modelled, to raise up the next generation of labourers.
I think this is a great summary of Jesus’ strategy. The tendency is for us to think we know better, but if we follow Jesus’s own strategy, the results are going to be much more fruitful. What counts of course, is that we don’t merely absorb some more head knowledge, but that we actually put into practice the strategies taught on the course. I have my own training that I use, but for the next few weeks I’m going to put my own training aside and follow this system, then I can learn it properly and integrate it with my own stuff later. This training has a great track record, and I’m really looking forward to helping those of you who need help, and partnering with those of you who are already producing multiple generations of simple churches.
